Teaching kids about money is such an important topic anytime… not just in times in financial crisis. The foundation that parents lay down by their example today is the kind of preparation that will help their children weather any financial crisis in the future.

Kids learn more from our actions than our words; so wise parents involve them in some of the financial decisions that affect them directly. Getting kids involved is the best way for kids to learn the values inherent in wise money management skills, such the difference between their needs and wants and how to delay gratification. This is also how kids can become exposed to the skills associated with money management such as saving money for a specific goal, budgeting their earnings and spending based on priorities.

You can help kids learn from and create their own “kid-sized economy” using allowance. A true allowance “allows” kids to practice the skills and develop these values and therefore “ I recommend” not paying kids to do their chores. No one is going to pay your child to clean his room in college, so he learns the wrong lesson when he is paid to clean it at home. Instead, that is a contribution. Your child can have jobs that you pay him for (not called allowance—allowance is practice money you give each week, but contributions are done because it is what your child does in return for being part of the whole.

Yes we have to teach our children about the difficulty of getting money and those who are suffering without money. They must be aware the value of money and should learn from us how to spend it and also should learn tht we should help poor.

Investments
