This already the sixth post about fun resources and games for kids to help with their financial education. I will keep them coming for you, there are lots more to come!
Enjoy everyone!
“Escape From Knab, The Adventure” is the coolest online money game ever! It’s designed for use by middle and high school students – our teens! ;o)
“Fasten Your Seatbelt! You are about to take off on an adventure to the strange and slimy planet Knab. Make the right choices while you are there and you can return to the planet Earth. Live dangerously and who knows what may happen. Good Luck!”
Your teens arrive in January and they won’t be able to take that next rocket back to Earth until July. Yes, each teen has only six months to earn $10,000 for a ticket back home. Will your teens return or will they have to stay on Knab for another six months? ;o)
This is an enchanting educational simulation which takes kids (anyone really!) through a series of financial decision-making experiences in the fun and entertaining setting of the fictitious planet, Knab, where visitors discover the results of their actions and decisions. With the variety of choices given, each visit is different.
There’s a “Handy Pocket Translator” that provides more information with a definition or further explanation of the terms. The “Monthly Statement” acts as a personal financial reference to help with decision-making. Oh, and a “Knab Blab” — yes, it “blabs” important news!
You’re given a choice of jobs, asked to fill out a W-4 form, make a budget (but quick you’re running out of oxygen and you need to buy more canisters!), asked to write out a check, buy an affordable house and buy or lease a hovercraft (you can’t walk around!), given investment choices and take your one week vacation or exchange it for one week of pay.
Then it’s July, your flight is departing Knab! Sell your house, cash in your investments and pay off all your debts. Did you save the $10,000 to buy your ticket?
Cheers … Amanda van der Gulik … Excited Life Enthusiast! ;o)
